My husband and I both grew up in Wisconsin, our daughter was born there. We moved to Michigan when she was 4. We like it here in Michigan, but if you want to talk comfort food you must visit Leon's in Wisconsin, the BEST, yes I said it the BEST custard in the world! It is a drive-up, very simular to Happy Days restaurant. Kopps and Culvers are also equally good for custard and burgers. We now have Culvers in Michigan and many other states. Now I am not saying this is probably good for the waist line, but in moderation this is the ultimate comfort food. I am sure everyone has a favorite from your home state. PLEASE SHARE.

I always bring kisses to you every day lol and thank you so much!
Hi Anne,
One of my favorites from way back when was a place called The Varsity in the Atlanta area, great burgers and killer onion rings. Of course growing up in the south my favorite comfort food was/is fried chicken.
OK, now I am really hungry.

hey Anne...here in Texas the first few things that came to mind as comfort foods are pecan pie, mashed potato's and Blue Bell Ice Cream!
I could go for a custard pie about now - yum!
Homemade TaterTot Hotdish - YUM!! Is this just a MN thing? Anywhere else I think it's called a casserole...
As far as restaurant food - French fries with sour cream at the old Annie's Parlour (now gone - was near the U of MN campus in Mpls) BEST fries EVER!
Hey SquirrelQueen! I remember visiting The Varsity with friends many, many years ago. I remember the hamburgers in particular...they looked like somebody sat on them...squashed! Guess that is what they're known for.
And, custard, custard pie and creme boule are tops on my "to die for" list.
It must be really good, too bad wisconsin is way too far here.
