French Toast Bake

This is a fun recipe and what I really like about it is that its easy and you can make it and leave it in your refrigerator overnight and bake it the next day.

Start with a 9X13 pan and spray well with non-stick cooking spray.
Cut a loaf of french bread into 1 inch slices and line the bottom of the pan, scrunch them in if you have to.
Mix together well:
8 large eggs
3 cups of milk
1 TBSP of vanilla
4 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt

Pour over the bread and make sure that it soaks into all the pieces. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 4 or up to 36 hours.

When you are ready to bake:
Uncover and dot with 2 TBSP butter, cut in little pieces
Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes until bread is puffy and lightly browned. When you take it out sprinkle with a little cinnamon and powdered sugar mixture.

Let it sit for about 5 minutes and then serve. I cut mine into squares and served it with syrup.

Another variation in the liquid mixture I omit the sugar and vanilla and add 1 cup chopped ham and 1 cup grated cheese and then bake as above. This gives it a different taste, my husband loves it this way.

As for butter versus margarine, I trust cows more than chemists.~Joan Gussow

I don't know which I like better... the recipe or the quotes! Give me real butter and real milk anyday!

I would share my secret French toast recipe, but I'm afraid of the liability! (Not for the healthy minded.)

Didn't know where to respond... TY for the visit to my blog... TY for the prayers for my friend's family. I will keep your DH in my thoughts for his transplant. I have a SIL that is on dialysis... and docs don't have her on the transplant list because she's not stable enough for it..
